The morning of the 26th of November was a quintessential Winter one in Coachford , with a clear blue sky, frosty verges and a mild but pleasant sting in the air. Twenty -one happy amblers met at the entrance to the Coachford greenway at 11am, well wrapped up and eager to walk.
Before setting off, our leader Mary Tobin gave a brief description of the walk-a linear walk in the beautiful Lee Valley, along a stretch of water that is a world class angling facility in addition to being the “training grounds” for world class rowers, as it is also the location of the headquarters of Rowing Ireland.
Neither anglers nor rowers were in evidence that morning, though, and the still water perfectly mirrored the beautiful winter sky. The calmness and serenity were broken only by the chatter of the amblers as they made their leisurely way to the end of the trail where they posed for a photo or two courtesy of Martin Conroy before making their way back to the trailhead and proceeding to the cosy and welcoming Boathouse cafe in Coachford for a well deserved lunch. A very relaxing ending to a most enjoyable morning!
