It was fitting that we slowed down going through Dungourney showing respect for a cradle of Cork Hurling. Yet our aspirations tempted us to climb ever higher to the Tír na n-Óg that is “Leahy’s Farm”. We planned to park and later dine there. Margaret O’Flynn, our leader for the day, awaited us with an on-line Rolla in hand. The “Lee-he”/”Lah-he” dispute re pronunciation of Leahy did not arise as we had our own Cork Leahy “Lee-he” among our number to mark our card.

As we started our walk the glorious spell of high summer sunshine was evidently over. Knockaceo insisted on asserting what it “said on the tin”. The Knock/Cnoc had been climbed by car almost since Midleton. The “Ceo” confined our curiosity to 3 metres for most of the way. The company as ever was first rate and we tramped happily along. The preceding night’s rain provided plenty of muck for those in dainty runners should they put a cos amú. The gentle gradients were kind to our hearts while offering the spice of variety. The staff at Leahy’s were welcoming and their food offering was tasty. Unusually nowadays, their prices struck us as very reasonable… many thanks to Margaret Beausang for negotiating a great deal!
Thanks to all in RTAI who made sure we had yet another happy outing faoin aer. Maith sibh.
