Our holiday destination this year was the Barcelona area. We stayed in the nearby coastal town of Santa Susanna at the Atzavira 5* hotel,a superb facility.
Highlights of the week included a guided walk of the Gothic 1/4 of Barcelona absorbing its history and demolishing plates of delicious tapas. We returned later in the week to walk the perimeter of the Sagrada familia, our guide ,Ricardo, a mine of knowledge about every aspect of its façade. The maritime museum portside was another highlight. Further trips to a winery, Montserrat, Girona, Figueres and free time to explore nearby towns by train filled in this busy week. Having eaten great food each evening many of us gathered in the courtyard for a seisiún ceoil,dánta srl. Quizzes and frenetic card playing also added to the entertainment.
