On 2 December last, the Cork RTAI Annual Charity Coffee Morning made its welcome return to the Silversprings Clayton Hotel after an enforced absence for the previous two
years. It was a very successful and enjoyable occasion and we were all delighted to be back.
44 attended and another dozen or so, who were unable to be there in person, sent along
contributions. After the usual chat and banter, many top-ups of tea and coffee, and the
checking and re-checking of the Donation Box, we were delighted to report that the total
was €1,600. The Branch Committee decided to supplement this amount so that each of the
two charities would receive €1,000.
As you already know, the Irish Community Air Ambulance (based in Rathcoole and
providing speedy transport of accident victims to hospitals all over Munster) https://communityairambulance.ie/ and My Canine Companion https://www.mycaninecompanion.ie/ (based in Blackpool and providing accredited Service Dogs to people with disabilities, predominantly autism) were the two beneficiary charities for 2022. The cheques have been forwarded and both organisations are grateful and deeply appreciative. Míle buíochas.
Thanks to Mariska and all the staff in Silversprings for placing hotel facilities at our disposal
for the event and for sponsoring the tea/coffee and scone. A special word of thanks to
Antoinette and Alan, who look after us so well during the year at our monthly Coffee
Mornings.
Our monthly Coffee mornings – on the first Friday of each month – will continue in
Silversprings. We will have another one in Springfort Hall in February and also another in
Garryvoe in March.
