Andalucia September 2023

Oh the joy of flying out of Cork on a rainy Thursday to Malaga for what was to be a memorable holiday in the company of a wonderful guide Alejandro. Antequera was our first introduction to inland Spain with its Alcazaba (fortress) Moorish architecture, churches, palacios, and bull ring.3 ancient portal tombs were fascinating to explore. Next day,Cordoba with its incredible Mosque/Cathedral beckoned. Superb local guides made sense of this feast for the senses as it defies description. Being free to wander the Jewish quarter with its narrow streets, shops, cafés it begged a longer visit. But Seville was next on our itinerary with its royal palace and myriad streets waiting to be explored.TG for Google maps to help wandering sheep! Transferring to Granada we had ample time to explore yet another amazing city. Alejandro took us on a night walk to give us a different perspective. But the guided tour of the Alhambra palace and a Flamenco show at the Bull Ring were a memorable ending to this great holiday. A return visit to any or all of these cities would be well justified as what we got was a mixture of flavours. Like Tapas,we want more! (See Travel Dept Highlights of Andalusia for your details)
