Great night out!

On May 23rd, a large group of 46 members of RTAI Cork assembled at Isaac’s restaurant McCurtain St, for an early bird meal in advance of the Simon and Garfunkel Tribute show at the Everyman Palace Theatre. Greetings were exchanged and old friendships renewed, as we took our places at the three long tables which had been reserved for us. The wonderful food and polite service added greatly to the ambiance of the evening.

Feeling a sense of déjà vu, Mags was back in teacher mode, assigning theatre seats to couples and groups of friends (keeping the “trouble-makers” apart!!!)

The Simon and Garfunkel show was a very professional, musical tribute to the famous duo. Their story,  and  contemporary world events, narrated and projected on screen, brought back memories of the social upheaval of the 1960s.  The influence of current affairs on the music of the time was evident, and cleverly interwoven in the set list.

The lengthy standing ovation and encore calls reflected the immense enjoyment experienced by all in attendance.

If this show ever comes to a theatre near you – bí ann gan teip!
