Courtmacsherry Walk

A great time was had by all 36 of us on our walk of the Seven Heads Courtmacsherry on Tuesday September 13th.
We left the Golden Pheasant café and headed through the woods, led by Dónal Whooley, who imparted a lot of interesting historical and geographical facts en route.
We walked over hills and dales and climbed over stiles until we arrived at the old fishing village of Meelmane near Broad Strand where we partook of our “lón beag”. We viewed Kilbrittain, Coolmaine, Howe’s beach and Old Head of Kinsale across the bay.
We continued on the Fuchsia Way where the “gentry” of yore walked to the beach shielded from the “peasants”.
Bhíomar ag piocadh agus ag ithe sméara dubha go dtí gur thangamar go Barr Aerach where any remaining cobwebs were blown away!
We then began our descent to the Timoleague/ Courtmacsherry road gently shepherded along by Ann Whooley who gathered up any “stragglers “ who were busily chatting and admiring the stunning views and enjoying the wonderful fresh air .
We hungrily ate our delicious soup and sandwiches followed by a welcome cupán back in the Golden Pheasant café knowing that a good night’s sleep would be guaranteed.
